Overview

The Magister Craft Roman House Competition is an international, academic-style competition for students in grades 5–12, designed to combine historical research, archaeology, and digital reconstruction using Minecraft Java Edition.

Students research a real Roman house dating to the 4th century A.D. or earlier, analyze archaeological evidence, and recreate the structure digitally with historically informed accuracy and clearly articulated scholarly conjecture.

Judging Standards

Submissions are evaluated by an independent judging panel using the following criteria:

Historical accuracy and use of archaeological evidence
Plausible scholarly conjecture where evidence is missing
Architectural detail and sense of lived space
Quality of documentation (Rationale, Works Cited, Floor Plan)
Professional clarity of video presentation

Awards & Distinctions

Only a limited number of submissions receive official recognition.

Awarded to the single entry judged to be the most outstanding overall.

Each badge:
